Speaker Bios: Andy Astor is founder and chief executive officer of EnterpriseDB, the world's leading enterprise open source database company. Andy has championed the support of independent open source communities and hybrid open source business models since the company’s inception in 2004. This year, Andy was named one of the “Top Leaders in Open Source Business” by LinuxWorld Magazine.

John Goodson is the executive leader of DataDirect Technologies. He is responsible for daily operations, business development, product direction and long-term corporate strategy.

John brings significant technical and business leadership to the company. Joining DataDirect in 1992 as an engineer, he has since held positions of increasing responsibility in research and development, technical support and marketing. John is a well known and respected industry luminary and data connectivity expert. For more than 10 years, he has worked closely with Sun and Microsoft on the development and evolution of database connectivity standards including J2EE, JDBC, .NET, ODBC and ADO. John has been involved with the ANSI H2 Committee, which is responsible for building the SQL standard and the SQL Access Group, which has been responsible for building call level interfaces into relational databases. He is now actively involved in Java standards committees, including the JDBC Expert Group and Java Rowsets. This active leadership has helped his team develop the most technically advanced data connectivity technologies.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Virginia Tech.

Mark Hapner is a Sun Distinguished Engineer and is currently SOA Strategist for Sun Software. He helps formulate Sun's SOA and composite application strategy spanning Java Standards, Web Service Standards and Sun products. He is also Sun's WS-I Board Member.

Mark was previously lead architect for Java EE and was responsible for guiding the overall architecture of J2EE 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4. Earlier he was co spec lead of the Enterprise JavaBeans specification and spec lead of the Java Message Service specification.

Ken North is a consultant, software developer, author, speaker, industry analyst, and company founder. He teaches Expert Series seminars and is the editor of WebServicesSummit.com, SQLSummit.com, GridSummit.com and LinkedDataSummit.com. Ken has authored several books, written for dozens of tech industry journals and been a columnist and contributing editor for Dr. Dobb's, Web Techniques and Internet Computing. Ken has consulted and taught classes and seminars in North America, Europe, Asia and South America. His company specializes in IT consulting and advisory services, authoring, editing and professional education. Its services include database design and development, system architecture, software development, web development, multimedia authoring, product development and video production.

Dr. Bill O'Connell, IBM Distinguished Engineer, is the CTO for Business Intelligence (BI) for IBM Information Management. He is responsible for the BI architecture and technical strategy across both the DB2 and BI Organizations. This includes aligning IBM Software and Hardware Systems Group as well as IBM Business Consulting Services for BI. In this role, Connell owns the BI integration and technical directions for DB2, Data Warehouse Edition, Balanced Configuration Unit as well as the BI vertical market technical solutions.

Prior to joining IBM, he was an Architect on NCR's Teradata Database System and has been an adjunct Professor teaching database engineering for over 15 years at such schools as Princeton University and University of Toronto.

Nikita Ogievetsky is head of Common Business Components at Morgan Stanley Global Wealth Management Group. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Nikita advised top Finance, Publishing and Manufacturing companies as an expert in Information Architecture, Data Modeling and Knowledge Sharing and Visualization. He leads the community in finding simple solutions for real life problems on the enterprise scale. Nikita contributed to the XTM 1.0 specification and is a founding member of TopicMaps.Org. He is a regular presenter on international XML and Knowledge Technology conferences, and has numerous publications on the subjects of XML, XSLT, Knowledge Technologies, and general computer science.

John G. Senor III is president and chief operating officer of iWay Software - an Information Builders company and market leader in middleware that accelerates business integration. With facilities to integrate systems in real time, near-real time, or on a scheduled basis, iWay provides a complete reusable infrastructure for EAI, B2B, e-commerce, and mobile business to over thousands of customers worldwide. Most recently, Mr. Senor held the position of group vice president and general manager of Information Builders' Middleware Technology Group, responsible for the overall strategy and development of Information Builders' comprehensive line of middleware software products.
