It appears that Cisco is going to make its reported move into the server business on Monday March 16.
Remember? It's supposedly been working with VMware on a blade server code named the California Project.
CEO John Chambers and "senior executives from several market leading partners" are supposed to wax eloquent on the "evolution of the data center" and Unified Computing, which, as we understand it, is a way of getting the blades to talk directly to the storage servers complements of Cisco's big fast Nexus switch, putting computing and networking in a single box, and architecturally uniting the compute and storage platform with the network and virtualization platform.
Server rivals IBM and HP are readying their rhetorical lines of defense.
